Federica Pellati
Prof. Federica Pellati is an Associate Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy, where she is the Principal Investigator of the research group “Natural Products for Medicinal Chemistry”. Her research is dedicated to the study of bioactive natural compounds as new leads in medicinal chemistry. Her interest is focused on the extraction and analysis of molecules from Cannabis sativa L., and on the investigation of their biological activity against hyper-proliferative disorders and central nervous system (CNS) diseases. She has many international and national research projects and collaborations. In 2022, she has been awarded with the ElSohly Award by CANN-ACS for her research on C. sativa. In 2025, she has received the University of Bern Prize for Best Oral Presentation in Basic Research in the cannabis field and the Innovator in Medicinal Chemistry and Personalized Therapy Award, released by PROTEOMASS Scientific Society. She is the author of more than 120 papers in international scientific journals (h-index = 42 from Scopus), 2 patents and more than 100 congress communications. She is an editorial board member for many international Journals in the areas of medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical analysis, including the Journal of Cannabis Research and Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research. She is the President of the single-cycle Master's Degree Course in Pharmacy and the Departmental delegate for international relations.
