Jose Martinez-Orgado
Born in Madrid, Spain, he earned his M.D. from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in 1985 and his Ph.D. from the Autónoma University of Madrid (UAM) in 1999. Since 2016, he has been the Head of the Neonatology Department at San Carlos University Hospital in Madrid and the Neurology Pathophysiology Research Group at the San Carlos Health Research Institute (IdISSC). He also leads the Cannabinoids for Neonatal Diseases Research Group. His research, focused on neonatal neurological pathology since 1993, has centered on cannabinoids, particularly cannabidiol, since 2003. His work contributed to a clinical trial on cannabidiol and hypothermia for asphyxiated neonates. He has been a member of the Spanish Cannabinoid Research Society since 2004, serving on its Board and as Treasurer, and a member of the International Cannabinoid Research Society. He has led over 20 research projects, co-invented two international patents, and published over 95 papers. His h-index is 26 on Web of Science and 28 on Scopus.
