
Raquel Peyraube
Medical Doctor graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of the Republic in Uruguay, specialized in Endocannabinology and Problematic Drug Use. She founded and is the first president of the Latin American Interdisciplinary Society of Cannabinology, also member of the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS), and member of the Ethics Committee of the Knowmad Institute. Since 2020 is de general director of the International Diploma of Endocannabinology, Cannabis and Cannabinoids currently performed at the Biological Research Institute "Clemente Estable" with the declaration of ministerial interest by the Education and Cultural Ministry and the Ministry of Public Health of Uruguay. She is the representative for Latin America of the Certificate Medical Cannabis Training Course of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Throughout her career she has been involved in training, prevention, treatment and harm reduction related to drugs, including innovative theoretical and methodological developments with emphasis on ethical issues, which earned her regional and international recognition. She has been an ad hoc advisor to the National Drug Secretariat of Uruguay, having actively participated in the drafting of the law regulating cannabis. She is currently ad hoc scientific advisor to policy makers in different countries, having participated in the processes in Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and French Polynesia, among others. She is an active lecturer at many political and academic events and currently dedicated to the clinical practice, research particularly interactions and pharmacokinetic aspects of cannabinoids and potential clinical uses, medical education and Drug Policy Reform towards more humane, pragmatic, science-based and ethical models of public health.
